Linseed or Argan oil

Let the Battle begin, What’s better Linseed Oil or Argan Oil. The rage of product companies putting out their own brand of oils on the market. So for the better part of a month or so I have been testing the two products (I will not be saying what products I have tested due too, I don’t want to get sued.) My conclusion to these two products is Linseed Oil is the clear cut winner! In my own opinion Linseed oil can be reapplied to a single hair application (before, during and after a blow dry) were Argan oil could way the hair down. I also find that Linseed Oil works for all textures of hair. I did this test for myself so I can bring one of the two products in my salon. I always test out products before I retail them to my clients. I believe it’s not about getting points or rewards from a hair company but standing by the products you  send your clients home with. Now some of you will disagree with my conclusion, and that’s o.k.  If you visit my salon I will be happy to send you home with Linseed oil.

May 9,2012

On May 9th, all hair stylist lost a mentor in Vidal Sassoon. Vidal Sassoon changed the industry and how we looked at it. Sculpting and molding hair into geometric shapes and creating such looks like the 5 point hair cut. From Sassoon academy’s to slogans like “if you don’t look good, we don’t look good” Vidal reached  out to the public.

As a young Hair Stylist I wanted to train at Sassoon. I wanted to learn the foundation that Vidal created, Lines, Graduation, and Layers. After my 1st stint at Vidal Sassoon Academy I was so motivated to throw away all my razors, texture shears and long scissors and dedicate myself to one pair of small scissors. No I never met the man but I am lucky to share his Birthday. (Jan 17)

Vidal Sassoon Lived and extraordinary Life. We would be so lucky to have the 3rd of his Love, Passion, and Dedication that Vidal possessed for Hair Styling.

Thank You For Sharing with us, and Making the industry a Better Place!

International Beauty Show 2012

Last weekend I had the pleasure of working the International Beauty Show with the Great TEAM of AlfaParf. 3 days of sharing education to our fellow hair stylist and future professionals. I was asked to be a Special Guest by the Creative Director Abraham Sprinkle. To show how I would use the Alfaparf styling lines S4U and Semi De Lino as if I would be using them, during a photo shoot. It was an honer and a pleasure to share the stage with the very talented Clemente Porras and Abraham Sprinkle, as well as back stage with the hard working Alfaparf team. As the Mad Men theme ran wild on stage. I wanted to show clean period hair style that we have gone away from, that is making a big comeback on the runways and red carpets. Some of the go to products I used was the Semi De Lino illuminating mousse great flexible hold, help me build the shape. Semi De Lino design gel by far my new favorite product, a great working gel that doesn’t get flaky and Semi De Lino Hair Spray. The Semi De Lino hair spray was fantastic because it was a working and finishing spray. It never got flaky or cracked the hair shafts on the models I used, as I used the same models over and over. I give the line an A+. Thank You Again Alfaparf and Piermarco Group for putting a Fantastic event together and letting me be apart of it.

Bring on the Finger Waves

Yesterday I had the privilege of styling hair for great designer Red Doll by Tatyana Merenyuk for her 2012 collection. How can I say NO this this Project? She is a Fantastic Designer, whom I am a huge fan of her clothes. Her New collection has a strong vintage vibe. So when Tatyana sent me inspiration looks for hair, I was all aboard for some finger waves. Finger waves are a great way to dress up hair for a night out or any formal affair. This look can be done with Hot Rollers or a Curling Iron (I used a curling iron). I am hoping in the next couple of weeks I can do Video Tutelage on this style of finger waving. But lets not forget the great team who worked extremely hard for this shoot. (Photographer - Tawfick Espriella, MUA - Yelena Tsygankova, and the Beautiful Model - Natalia Hudziak).

The picture is a sample of the hair that is about 90% completed.

True education is not what you know, it’s what you share!
